So we all have a fun & safe time, everyone participating in the Day Of 1000 Canoes must abide by the following rules:
- Abide by the safe boating laws* of Ontario including having the proper safety gear.
- Our event will require each Canoe or Kayaking participant to wear their lifejacket at all times while on the water.
- No consumption of alcohol while on the water.
- Respect private property along the river.
- Respect the environment at all times. Carry your trash with you and use designated receptacles at the end.
- Respect other participants in the event by keeping a safe distance from other participants, avoid use of profanities (family event).
- Each participant must sign a wavier at the event day sign in table. Participants under the age of 18 yrs of age will require parent or legal guardian to sign wavier.
- Abide by all course directional signs and course event personnel.
- Participants will be required to sign in at the start of the event in Caledonia and sign out at the end of the event in Cayuga.
- Above all ENJOY the day, make new friends & appreciate this beautiful environment we have to live/work/play in!
* All boaters agree to abide by Transport Canada Boating Safety Regulations. This includes proper safety gear – all “Human Powered Pleasurecraft” (Canoes, Kayaks, Rowboats, Rafts…) require the following:
- One Canadian-approved personal flotation device or lifejacket of appropriate size for each person on board
- Minimum one manual propelling device (paddle or oars) – TWO is recommended
- One buoyant heaving line at least 15m (49’3”) long
- One bailer (bucket) or manual bilge pump
- One sound signalling device (Fox 40® pealess whistle, compressed gas horn or an electric horn)
All boats will be safety inspected at launch by the OPP.
