Come join us for the first annual “Day of a Thousand Canoes”
Paddle from Caledonia to York to Cayuga…with fun, food & entertainment along the way!
Sat. June 25, 2011 / Registration & Launch 8am-noon (Caledonia Fairgrounds)
The entire trip (about 15 km) is about two hours (leisurely paddle) with rest stops along the way. There will be a final gathering & celebration at the Cayuga end.
Fees to participate are:
- Walking or Hiking – $15
- Canoe or Kayak – $45 (first paddler, $15/each additional passenger)
I am looking forward to this event. Do you have any more details – how does one register, where do we register, what is the route, how long would it take to paddle?
Most of that info can be found on the Home Page!
There are links for online registration (recommended) and snail mail (not too reliable in the middle of rolling mail strikes).
The route is from Caledonia to York to Cayuga along that section of the Grand River – an easy paddle (about 3 hrs. or all day if you like) with a number of stops along the way for refreshment & entertainment – and the world’s only Tim Horton’s Paddle-Through”.
Can we take a kayak? Or is it strictly canoes?
Canoe, Kayak, Rowboat, Pirogue, Raft, Peddleboat…”human powered watercraft”
I am looking forward to the event but wondering if it rains with lightning & thunder will it be postponed?
Positive thoughts for nice weather! We shall cross that bridge should we come to it…did we mention it’s going to be a BEAUTIFUL DAY?
What a great day! A huge success with close to 300 canoes on the Grand. We are bound to break 1,000 next year!
